Wrong

When we are young
we are taught to be kind

But when we grow up
we are taught to be ‘right’

And the way we
know we are ‘right’
is for others to be
shown to be ‘wrong’

For ‘rightness’ is
always a triumph
over those who we
know are ‘not right’

But I would rather be wrong.
And I would rather hang out
with the others who,
I’m told,
are probably also wrong.

Perhaps we could talk?

And,
perhaps,
if we remember
how to be kind,
and if we are honest
about how we all could be wrong,
we might just get a glimpse
of what Being Right looks like.
